Canned Food Drive For Seniors in Need

Drop off donations at either of the two local senior centers this month

A non-perishable food drive is being conducted through December to help senior citizens in the local community who are in need.

Food is being collected in the lobbies of the Kenneth Aitken Senior Community Center located at 17800 Redwood Road, Castro Valley and the Hayward Senior Center at 22325 North Third Street, Hayward.

You can reach the Castro Valley center at 510-881-6738 and the Hayward center at 510-881-6766 if you have questions about hours of operation.

Both centers operate under the auspices of the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District, (H.A.R.D.).  They are open to all adults age 60 and older.

You can read the centers' current newsletter about their ongoing activities here.

Year-round, financial donations can also be made to support the work of both senior centers.  Tax deductible contributions can be mailed to the Greater Hayward Area Recreation and Parks Foundation at 1099 E Street, Hayward, CA 94541. The foundation also glady accepts bequests and donations in honor and in memory of individuals. For information about making donations call 510-881-6768.
