BART Union Members To Vote On Contract Friday

The BART board of directors will vote on the proposal in November if it's approved by SEIU and ATU members

By David Mills/Patch

Members of BART’s two largest unions will vote Friday on the proposed contract that union leaders and transit managers negotiated 10 days ago.

Workers represented by the Service Employees International Union Local 1021 and Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1555 will vote at various locations all day Friday.

The tentative contract reportedly provides union employees with a 15.8 pay increase over four years. It also requires them to make contributions to their pensions and pay more for their medical benefits.

If the workers approve the pact, the BART board of directors will vote on the contract at its Nov. 21 meeting or at a special meeting before then.
