Would You Make A Citizen's Arrest?

A homeowner recently nabbed a suspected burglar until police arrived. That raises the question: have you ever made a citizen's arrest?

 

A 20-year-old burglary suspect got a surprise Sunday night when he allegedly broke into a garage and got tackled by the homeowner until police arrived. 

Officers arrested the suspect, identified as Mack Lapatrick of Oakland, on suspicion of burglary and took him to county jail.

The incident occurred in one of the better residential neighborhoods of nearby San Leandro. 

"We would never encourage citizens to taken action and put their safety at risk. That is a personal choice," said San Leandro police Lt. Jeff Tudor. "In this case, the brave actions of the victim allowed for us to make an arrest."
