Woman Dies After Being Found Engulfed in Flames in Hayward

Emergency crews responding to a structure fire Friday night instead find a person on fire.

Bay City News —  Hayward police are investigating the death of a woman who was found engulfed in flames Friday night, police said.

Emergency officials initially were called to a structure fire in the 31000 block of Industrial Parkway Southwest, not far from Whipple Road, shortly before 10 p.m., but instead they found a person on fire.

Hayward firefighters and police responded within minutes, but were unable to save the woman, who has not yet been identified.

Police said investigators do not know the cause of death and are speaking with witnesses at the scene. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (510) 293-7082.
