Alameda County authorities were working to identify two elderly women who were found dead and decomposing in a San Lorenzo home on Friday evening.

The women, believed to be sisters in their 90s, were discovered by coroner's deputies after a mailman reported not having seen them in several days, according to the Alameda County coroner's bureau.

Their bodies were heavily decomposed and appeared to have been left for a significant amount of time, a deputy said today.

The deaths were not considered suspicious and an investigation into their identities was being handled by the coroner's bureau, he said.
