Sexual Assault Reported on Normally Tranquil Trail

A woman reported being raped on Madrone Trail on Wednesday.

Residents of the normally sedate Tri-Valley area are concerned that a woman may have been raped on an East Bay Regional Park District trail on Wednesday.

Patch could not reach park police for comment but was contacted by readers asking if the report is true. KTVU is reporting this morning that because of an assault security has been increased at Madrone Trail. The trail is accessible via Bollinger Canyon Road from the west and Camille Avenue from the east between Danville and Alamo.

According to the Park Police report being circulated among San Ramon Valley residents: A woman hiking at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday passed a man with a dog coming from the opposite direction.

She said the man grabbed her hair from behind, pulled her down onto the ground, pinned her down and assaulted her.

She described him as a white man in his early 40s with short light brown hair, clean-shaven, with a pointed nose and light olive complexion. He was of medium build, about 5 foot 10 and weighing about 180 pounds.

He was wearing a tan and cream button up shirt, blue jeans and dark colored tennis shoes. He had a silver watch on his left wrist.

The dog was described as heavy set, medium-sized brown and white with one ear up and the other down.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Bermudez at 510-690-6562.
