Pedestrian Hurt In Amtrak Accident in San Lorenzo

Bay City News Service

A pedestrian was taken to a hospital after being hit by an Amtrak train in San Lorenzo on Wednesday afternoon, an Amtrak spokeswoman said.

Amtrak Capitol Corridor train No. 537 was heading from Sacramento
to San Jose when it struck the pedestrian at about 2:30 p.m. where East
Lewelling Boulevard crosses the tracks, said spokeswoman Vernae Graham.

The person has been transported to a hospital to be treated, but Graham did not know the extent of the injuries.

Graham said that as of 3 p.m., train No. 537 was still stopped on the southbound tracks and all other trains were single-tracking around the area.

Trains were not stopping at the nearby Hayward station.
