The CHP received a report at about 5:40 a.m. that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle on Mission Boulevard at Lewelling Boulevard, Officer Dan Jacowitz said.

The driver was traveling north on Mission Boulevard when he hit the woman, who was walking west in the crosswalk, Jacowitz said.

The woman was seriously injured and was transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, Jacowitz said. Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.

The accident remains under investigation. The driver told officers he had a green light, and the pedestrian said she had a walk sign, Jacowitz said.

In a separate incident a man was killed Sunday on Interstate 880, attempting to cross the highway after he crashed his car into the center divider.
