Overturned Big Rig Blocking a Lane of Highway 238 in Castro Valley

The driver is uninjured, the CHP said.

An overturned big rig truck is blocking a lane of northbound Highway 238 in Castro Valley this afternoon, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The solo-vehicle crash was reported at about 2:25 p.m. on northbound Highway 238 just north of Interstate Highway 880, CHP Officer Kevin Bartlett said.

A big-rig toppled on its side, blocking the far left lane of the highway, Bartlett said. The driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was uninjured in the crash, he said.

The lane remained blocked as of 3:20 p.m. while crews waited for a tow truck to remove the big-rig, which weighs about 40,000 pounds, Bartlett said.

He did not know when the lane would be reopened.
