Officials ID Man Found Fatally Shot Near Southland Mall

Carlos Diaz-Rubalcava, 22, was found by police in the area of Sakaland Road and West Winton Avenue on Thursday evening.

A man who was fatally shot near the Southland Mall in Hayward on Thursday evening was identified by police today as 22-year-old Carlos Diaz-Rubalcava.
 
Police said they found Diaz-Rubalcava, a Hayward resident, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound in the vicinity of Sakaland Road and West Winton Avenue shortly after 5:30 p.m. Thursday after receiving 911 phone calls reporting gunshots and a traffic collision.

Police said a second victim, a 48-year-old man, also was shot but is in stable condition and is expected to survive. Hayward police have not released any information about a motive for the shooting or a possible suspect.
 
Police said they won't disclose how many times Diaz-Rubalcava was shot or where on his body he was shot.
