Hayward Man Allegedly Drives into Pedestrians, Bus and Hotel in San Fran

A Hayward man who ran into two pedestrians, a San Francisco Municipal Railway bus and a hotel in downtown San Francisco on Sunday night has been charged with multiple counts of hit-and-run and reckless driving, according to a San Francisco District Attorney's Office spokesman.
 
Edwin Delatorre, 26, is expected to be arraigned later this week on four felony charges of hit-and-run, three misdemeanor counts of the same violation and one felony count of reckless driving causing bodily injury, district attorney's office spokesman Alex Bastian said.
 
The charges stem from an incident that started around 8:30 p.m. Sunday. According to police, Delatorre drove his red Ford Mustang and struck the Parc 55 hotel at Eddy and Mason streets, then hit a Muni bus nearby. Muni spokesman Paul Rose said only one person onboard complained of minor pain after the bus was hit. Delatorre allegedly continued driving to Market and Fifth streets, where he struck a pedestrian who was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police.
 
He then allegedly ran a red light and struck another pedestrian at Kearny and Market streets. The second pedestrian suffered injuries not considered life-threatening, was treated at San Francisco General Hospital and has since been released, police said.
 
Delatorre allegedly sped up to Kearny and Pine streets, where he abandoned his car and ran away on foot, police said. Investigators tracked him to Hayward early the next morning and he was arrested and booked into San Francisco County Jail. He was released Monday on $115,000 bail, according to senior sheriff's Deputy Enrique Luquin.
 
Police said the Mustang involved in the reckless driving spree was registered to Delatorre.
