Mom Turns In Getaway Driver In Walmart Black Friday Shooting

The mother of Oakland resident Queron Foreman, 18, took him to the police department to surrender after his name and photo were released in the news.

Bay City News — outside a was arrested after his mother persuaded him to turn himself in, police said today.

, was identified Friday as the suspected driver in the shooting, which occurred at about 1:50 a.m. on Nov. 25 in the parking lot of the store at 15555 Hesperian Blvd.

Around noon on Friday, shortly after his name and photo were released, his mother saw his picture in the news and brought him into the police department to surrender, police said today.

He is in custody and will be arraigned on Tuesday.

Another suspect, while a 16-year-old Oakland resident, who was also allegedly present during the robbery, has been questioned and released pending further investigation, police said.

Investigators believe that on the morning of the shooting, Watson and Phillips were passengers in a two-door burgundy Buick Riviera driven by Foreman that pulled up in the parking lot behind the three victims, all cousins from San Lorenzo in their early 20s.

Christopher, Rafael and Javier Murillo, the three victims, had been standing by their car in the parking lot when Watson approached and pulled out a gun while Phillips tried to steal a gold necklace from Rafael Murillo, police said.

A fight ensued, during which Watson allegedly shot Christopher Murillo, striking him in the neck, according to police. Murillo survived the shooting.

Watson and Foreman allegedly drove off after the shooting while the victims held Phillips until police arrived and arrested him.

Phillips and Watson, who surrendered to police around 11 a.m. Thursday at a home in East Oakland, are being held on suspicion of attempted murder, attempted robbery and robbery, police said.
