A 65-year-old man missing from Valley Springs Manor in Castro Valley was found in San Jose on Friday, according to a Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
Edmund Bascom was found at the Civic Center light rail station at 1st and Mission Streets around 1:30 p.m.
He was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center by Sheriff’s deputies and put on a 72-hour psych hold. An update on his condition wasn’t available, said Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup.

It isn’t known where Bascom will be places after his hospital release or if any of his family have come forward.
Bascom has gone missing several times before, and sheriff deputies would always find him in San Leandro.

“I have no idea how he got all the way down (to San Jose),” said Maurice Rowland, a Valley Springs Manor cook.
