Man Shoots Wife Then Self in Apparent Murder-Suicide

By Jeff Shuttleworth/Bay City News

The evidence in a double-fatal shooting at a home in San Lorenzo early Christmas morning strongly indicates that it was a murder-suicide, an Alameda County sheriff's spokesman said today.

Sgt. J.D. Nelson said investigators believe a man killed his wife and then killed himself at a home on Via Amigos at about 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The woman had multiple gunshot wounds and the man only had one.

Nelson said there are reports that the couple had been having marital problems but authorities haven't yet confirmed that.

The couple's three children, who are between the ages of 11 and 17, and other relatives were in the house at the time of the shooting, according to Nelson.

At least one family member witnessed the shooting and talked to investigators about it, he said.

Authorities haven't yet released the couple's names but may do so later today, Nelson said.
