Patch: Why is this even a story? Very early on the mother said she thought she was with her "boyfriend" so this article is for nothing but to state what was already known so you could continue to attract readers as if this was something you had uncovered. You know she works for a rival news outlet and I would therefore think you would do certain things as a professional courtesy. The first would not to post articles that you make look like they include some selacious new detail when it is an item that was public before she was found. Second, I'm sure you've noticed that Pleasanton weekly has disabled comments on anything they've posted on the story out of respect for the mom. Are page views so important to you that you'd use the pain of a grieving mom to drive traffic to your page? Stop printing old news and disable the comments. Show some respect, even if it is fake and if you truly font care.

As a single dad of 3 teen girls, one of whom is turning 18 tomorrow, I've lost count of how many times I was considered the bad guy because I wouldn't let them go places without supervision. I'm sure the mother tried her best and my heart goes out to her ... when you're a working parent and you don't have any help at home and the kids are intent on being defiant ... you do all you can do and it still may not be enough. My 17yo lied, snuck out, got a tattoo, smoked pot, slept with a lot of boys in spite of my best efforts to keep her safe ... it could have been her in that motel room.
