The officer's patrol car was running hot, with lights and siren, when it was broadsided in an intersection.

A Hayward police officer was injured Tuesday night following a crash with another vehicle, according to police.

The officer, whose name has not been released, was transported to a hospital for treatment and has since been released.

The driver of the other car was not injured.

Police said the officer was driving south through the intersection of Santa Clara and Jackson streets with lights and siren activated around 8 p.m. when his patrol car was broadsided by another car.
