Firefighters made quick work of a one-alarm fire in a Castro Valley home's garage this afternoon, fire officials said.

The fire was reported at 3:50 p.m. in a detached garage at 17742 Almond Road, according to the Alameda County Fire Department.

Thick black smoke and flames were coming from the garage when firefighters arrived, fire department spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said.

Firefighters have since knocked down the blaze.

There were no reports of injuries, Knowles said. A fire investigator is responding.
