Family of Homicide Victim to Hold Fundraiser May 18

The family of a man killed in an unsolved murder nearly a year ago will kick off a series of fundraisers this month to help establish a reward fund, according to the Hayward Daily Review.

Jordan Vigil, a 29-year-old Hayward resident and father of two, was found beaten and stabbed to death inside a home on the 4300 block of Omega Avenue in Castro Valley on May 14, 2012. His killing remains unsolved.

Vigil’s family will hold a car wash fundraiser on Saturday, May 18 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the K-Mart parking lot on 26231 Mission Blvd. in Hayward, according to the Daily Review. The event will include a food stand with hot dogs and baked goods for sale, along with a balloon release at the end of the day.

Car washes will cost $5 each, but larger donations will be accepted.

All proceeds will go toward the engraving of Vigil’s gravestone at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery and to establish a reward fund, the Daily Review reports.

According to the Daily Review, the family intends to continue holding events until they raise at least $10,000 for a reward.

Authorities have been searching for a possible suspect who has eluded investigators since Vigil’s slaying.

Cody Tripp, a 26-year-old parolee who resided at the home where Vigil’s body was found, has a no-bail warrant out for his arrest.
