Omega Avenue was blocked off by yellow police tape overnight after a body of a man in his 20s was discovered inside a home Monday evening.
Around 7 p.m., deputies responded to a home on the 4300 block of Omega Avenue after receiving calls about criminal activity in the area according to police.
Sgt. JD Nelson of Alameda County Sheriff's Office said that when deputies went to do a routine probation check of a resident at the home, they found the body in the garage and a significant amount of blood.
The cause and manner of the man's death is unknown, Nelson said, and his identity has not been released. This is Castro Valley's first homicide of the year.
The Alameda County coroner's office was at the home this morning.
Deputies do not yet know who the victim is or if he lived at the home, Nelson said.
KTVU reports that a woman and her adult children — a daughter and son — reside in the home. She currently is on vacation in Reno. News reports also mentioned that a party occured in the area Sunday evening.
Nelson added that no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call Alameda County Sheriff's Office investigators at 510-667-7721.
