'Dateline NBC' To Air Episode on Michelle Le Friday

The Michelle Le murder case, which gained state and nationwide attention, will be featured in a two-hour episode from 9 to 11 p.m. Friday on NBC.

National news program Dateline NBC will spotlight the Michelle Le murder case in a two-hour episode Friday night.

According to the Fremont Argus, the segment will focus on how parents of young murder victims aided Le’s family after her disappearance in May 2011.

Le, 26, of San Mateo, went missing May 27, 2011 from the Hayward Kaiser where she was attending nursing classes. Her body was found more than three months later.

Marc Klaas, whose 12-year-old daughter Polly was kidnapped and murdered in 1993, helped the Le family organize searches through his KlaasKids Foundation.

Hundreds from throughout the Bay Area and state joined together to search for Le.

Among them was Carrie McGonigle, whose 14-year-old daughter Amber DuBois was kidnapped and killed in 2009 near San Diego. She founded the Team Amber search organization in her daughter’s honor.

McGonigle’s dog discovered Le’s remains on Sept. 17, 2011 in Sunol.

Giselle Esteban, a Union City woman who was at one time friends with Le, was convicted of murder last October.

Prosecutors said that Esteban stalked and killed Le because she mistakenly believed that Le was having a romantic relationship with the father of Esteban's 6-year-old daughter.

Esteban was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison in December.

The Dateline NBC episode is scheduled to air this Friday, Jan. 11, from 9 to 11 p.m.
