Police said Alimi, a Hayward resident, was driving erratically heading south on Industrial Parkway Southwest, near the Union City border, when he lost control of his car and crashed at about 7:30 p.m.

Investigators believe he may have lost control while trying to change lanes at a high rate of speed, police said. The car hit a light pole and went down a small embankment, where it came to rest, according to police.

Alimi, who was alone in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.

According to Alimi's Facebook and LinkedIn social media pages, he attended James Logan High School in Union City and graduated in 2010, and was working as a bank teller at a Bank of America in Milpitas. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Hayward police at (510) 293-7000.
