Coroner Identifies Man Killed in Hayward Mobile Home Fire

Michael Dolyniuk died on June 13.

A man who was killed in a fire that destroyed his mobile home in unincorporated Hayward on June 13 was identified by the Alameda County coroner today as 58-year-old Michael Dolyniuk.

Coroner's officials said it took them a long time to confirm Dolyniuk's identity because of the extent of the burns he suffered in the blaze in the 20600 block of Fuchsia Court, which was reported shortly after 3 a.m. on June 13.

Firefighters who responded to the blaze found the home, which was about 50 feet by 10 feet, heavily involved in flames and forced entry to go inside, according to Alameda County fire spokeswoman Alicia Knowles.

The victim, ultimately identified as Dolyniuk, was found within about 10 feet of the home's front door and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Knowles said. Neighbors told firefighters that the victim was the sole occupant of the trailer, she said.

No one else was injured in the blaze and no neighboring properties were affected, according to Knowles. Investigators said shortly after the fire that they were still trying to determine what caused it.

Knowles said today that she hasn't heard any updated information about the cause.
