Copper Theft In San Leandro Prompts Warning

Metal thieves ripped the copper out of the air conditioning on Doolittle Drive. Is your establishment secure?

Copper thieves struck again in San Leandro.

At approximately 12:50 pm on Tuesday, San Leandro Police officers were called to the 100 block of Doolittle Drive to investigate a reported theft.

The victim told officers that during routine maintenance of their 63,000 square foot building, they discovered that all of the copper to the air conditioning units had been stolen from the rooftop. The reporting party had no idea when the theft could have occurred.

Crime prevention tip: Limit access to copper and other valuable materials. Prevent suspects from accessing ladders or climbing trees to your rooftops. Don’t hesitate to report suspicious activity.

This is an ongoing investigation and detectives are assigned to the case.

Witnesses should contact the San Leandro Police Department’s Investigations Division at (510) 577-3233 to report suspicious activity. Information can also be texted anonymously to 847411.

thanks Robert , it is a good idea to have a alarm system on all copper pipes and the whole roof let the alarm go off before they take every thing .
