CHP Issues 'Season of Safety' Campaign

The CHP will meet the challenges of the December holidays by adding extra units on patrol, extra enforcement, a driving under the influence checkpoint and a pedestrian/crosswalk enforcement operation

The California Highway Patrol Castro Valley Area has begun its “Season of Safety” traffic safety campaign. This campaign is specific to the Castro Valley area and surrounding communities.

For many, December is a time of holiday parties, increased travel and unfortunately drinking and driving. The CHP will meet these challenges by adding extra units on patrol, extra enforcement, a driving under the influence checkpoint and a pedestrian/crosswalk enforcement operation.

Castro Valley Area Commander, Lieutenant Christopher Sherry issued the following statement:

“The CHP’s mission is to provide the highest level of safety, service, and security to the public. We recognize that many more families are traveling together during this holiday period. We want to be proactive in our enforcement efforts so that families can safely arrive at their destinations and enjoy holiday celebrations. Our goal is to deter unsafe driving behavior, help disabled motorists and take enforcement actions that will result in safer roadways for everyone.”
