Big Rig Crash Closes One Lane of Highway 580 Near Strobridge Avenue

No one was injured, but about 10 gallons of engine oil spilled onto the far left lane.

BAY CITY NEWS – One lane of westbound Highway 580 in Castro Valley is blocked this morning by a big rig crash, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The crash was reported when a big rig struck a wall in the center divide just west of Strobridge Avenue in unincorporated Alameda County at about 7:05 a.m., CHP Officer Kevin Bartlett said.

No one was injured, Bartlett said, but about 10 gallons of engine oil spilled onto the far left lane.

The lane is shut down while the oil is being cleaned.

A Sig-alert was issued at 7:57 a.m. and was expected to be in effect for about an hour.
