One Injured in Ashland Shooting

Police were unable to identify any suspects but did find a shell casing at the scene.

A 34-year-old man was sent to Highland Hospital after an early morning shooting on Monday at on East 14th Street.

The Alameda County Sheriff's Department received a call about 2:15 a.m. saying shots were fired near the Ashland bar.

When police arrived at the scene, all they found was a shell casing in the parking lot — no suspects or victims were around.

However, Oakland's Highland Hospital called police a few minutes later saying the man who had been shot was brought in by a friend, according to Sgt. J.D. Nelson.

The Oakland Tribune reports that the man was shot in his upper body and is in critical condition.

There were no arrests made and no available desciption of the shooter.
