Accident in San Lorenzo Leaves Disabled Man in Hospital

Curtis Lekae, 51, of Oakland was hit by a car while operating his powered wheelchair on Bertero Avenue in San Lorenzo Tuesday evening.

A man operating his powered wheelchair suffered major injuries aftering getting hit by an oncoming vehicle on Bertero Avenue Tuesday evening according to CHP.

Curtis Lekae, 51, of Oakland was going westbound in an eastbound lane on Bertero Avenue around 10:15 p.m. when he was hit by David Rangeo, 58, of Danville, CHP officer Daniel Jacowitz said. Rangeo was traveling eastbound when he collided with Rangeo.

Rangeo did not suffer any injuries but Lekae was taken to for major injuries according to Jacowitz.

Jacowitz told Castro Valley Patch that drugs or alcohol is not believed to have played a factor of the collision. Not arrests were made and the crash is still being investigated by CHP.
