4 Men Charged with Fatal Stabbing

The men were arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court in Hayward on Wednesday.

By Bay City News—

Four men have been charged with murder in connection with a fatal stabbing near a brewery in Hayward early Saturday morning.

Daniel Ramirez, 29, his brother, 27-year-old Robert Ramirez, Jose Vasquez, 19, and Roger Pacheco, also 19, are all accused in the slaying of 24-year-old Jayson Dutt behind Buffalo Bill's Brew Pub at 1082 B. St. near Foothill Boulevard at about 12:22 a.m. on Saturday.

Hayward police said they believe the stabbing stemmed from an argument between two groups of people and are investigating the possibility that the dispute was gang related.

Hayward police Officer Ryan Sill said in a probable cause statement that the four suspects attacked Dutt by knocking him to the ground "then continuously punched and killed him in the head and body."

Sill said one of the suspects then stabbed Dutt several times in the chest and the side but he didn't specify which suspect. Police said Vasquez and the Ramirez brothers fled in a Mercedes-Benz before Vasquez crashed the car at West A Street near an on-ramp to Interstate Highway 880, about two miles away from the fatal stabbing.

The three suspects then flagged down a passing motorist, who took them to St. Rose Hospital in Hayward, according to police. The Ramirez brothers and Vasquez were arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court in Hayward on Wednesday.

In addition to murder, Robert Ramirez is charged with possession of cocaine. Pacheco, who has a prior conviction for assault with a firearm, is still at large, according to Sill.
