4 Arrested in Connection With I-580 Shooting

The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Four men have been arrested on suspicion of gun violations in connection with a shooting on westbound Interstate Highway 580 in Castro Valley on Thursday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Occupants of one vehicle fired five or six shots at the driver of another vehicle at about 4 p.m. Thursday on I-580 between Interstate Highway 238 and 164th Avenue, CHP officials said. No one was hit by the gunfire but a stray bullet went into a nearby home.

The names of the four suspects are not yet being released because the shooting is still under investigation, CHP officials said. The incident closed Highway 580 for about an hour late Thursday afternoon, according to the CHP.
