POLL: The Newest Burger Joint on the Block

Construction for Five Guys Burgers and Fries is underway at Skywest Commons, creating quite a stir in Hayward and neighboring San Lorenzo.

When it comes to finding a loyal following for burgers, San Lorenzo has has folks who won't go anywhere else to chow down on the classic American food.

From to , everyone seems to have a favorite burger joint near or along Hesperian Boulevard.

However, as mentioned by readers from , Five Guys Burger and Fries will be opening at Skywest Commons on the corner of Hayward's Hesperian Boulevard and A Street in the near future.

Though it is unclear when exactly the eatery will open, it doesn't seem too far away now. The inside currently lacks lighting, furniture and even flooring, but signs and banners are up, creating quite a stir among some of the franchise's already budding burger fans.

"I've tried a burger at the and loved it," said Hayward resident Crystal Knolls. "I can't wait for it to open so close to home."

However, loyal burger enthusiasts supporting other local establishments aren't easily swayed to bite into a Five Guys burger any time soon.

"In-N-Out all way," said Ritch Bowden of Hayward. "I don't see how [Five Guys] can even compare."

Patch is now turning to you to see where you plan on going to get your burger fix.

Another problem: When notified of a reply to a comment I could click the link in the email to go toRead More the article. That was not possible this time. So because a small minority zooms there computer the layout should be as it is? I don't think so. All that white space means that an article that could be read with just one or two clicks to scroll through is now going to take more scrolling to view. One thing that seems to be missing in today's world are web designers who (1) change the layout just because and (2) web designers who have neglected to consider the audience. The more I look at this layout the less I like it. The font needs to be darker than it is. the blue (like in "announcements") needs to be bolder. Overall, on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 best), I rank the new "improved" design a 3.
