Health & Fitness

Greetings! I'm Your New Fitness and Health Blogger

Hello, everyone! Let me introduce myself... I'm your new Health/Fitness blogger!

Hello, everyone! It's great to meet you. My name is Mitch Rothbardt. I'm the owner of Mitch Rothbardt Fitness and I'm a new Health/Fitness blogger for Castro Valley/San Leandro Patch. I'd shake your hand but there's a thick piece of glass in the way.

Since this is my first blog here, I'm just going to introduce myself and tell what I'm all about. I've been a personal trainer in the Castro Valley/San Leandro area for about three-and-a-half years. I've helped people lose weight, get stronger, get more flexible and accomplish many other fitness goals.

If you've heard my name before, it's probably because you're one of my clients or because I also write the health/fitness column for the Castro Valley Forum and the San Leandro Times. The thing I'm most proud of, however, is that I've been able to do it in a fun and safe way. You see, I think this is fun! It should be anyway. Waaaaay, too many people approach exercise like they're going to the dentist or walking the plank. It should be fun!

I believe that exercise isn't just to lose weight or get ripped. It's to help us understand and stretch ourselves beyond our norm. That will allow us to know and understand ourselves better and that will lead to a happier you!

I'm going to use this blog to bring some attention to some of the things I think need light shone on them and I hope that I'm going to entertain and inform you in the process. I'd like everyone to know that if you have any questions or if you want me to write about a particular topic, please let me know and I'll do my best to get it done.

Let me just leave you with a little piece of exercise advice for now:

Stop doing crunches. If you want to work your core, pick up the two heaviest dumbbells you can carry and walk as far as you can. Put them down, rest for a minute and repeat two more times. By the way, this is also a better "cardio" workout than anything you're going to do on the treadmill.

Have a great day!
