Outdoor Movie Night Series to Help Businesses Hit By Boulevard Construction

In an effort to help struggling businesses impacted by Castro Valley Boulevard construction, Castro Valley Rotary is hosting a series of outdoor movie nights starting in July.

Castro Valley Boulevard merchants are hoping to get a boost through the help of a few motion pictures being shown this summer.

The Rotary Club of Castro Valley plans to draw people to downtown and promote traffic to neighboring businesses with an outdoor movie series these next two months.

Movie-goers will be able to view the flicks projected in the alley way adjacent to located at 3323 Castro Valley Blvd. and at the Castro Village (see dates below for where movies will be shown).

Merchants on the Boulevard are being asked to stay open late these evenings to cater to customers watching the movies, which begin at 8 p.m.

Though the featured flicks are free, Rotary is asking for donations and sponsorship to help cover the cost of the event. Extra money made during the event will go toward The Rotary Foundation, which comes back to the club and other projects such as the landscape project for the new .

The rotary club will provide about 100 chairs to make it more comfortable for movie-goers to enjoy the flick.

  • July 12 — Dolphin Tale @ The Ice Creamery
  • July 26 — Adventures of Tin Tin @ The Village
  • August 9 — Soul Surfer @ The Ice Creamery

Another problem: When notified of a reply to a comment I could click the link in the email to go toRead More the article. That was not possible this time. So because a small minority zooms there computer the layout should be as it is? I don't think so. All that white space means that an article that could be read with just one or two clicks to scroll through is now going to take more scrolling to view. One thing that seems to be missing in today's world are web designers who (1) change the layout just because and (2) web designers who have neglected to consider the audience. The more I look at this layout the less I like it. The font needs to be darker than it is. the blue (like in "announcements") needs to be bolder. Overall, on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 best), I rank the new "improved" design a 3.
