East Bay Teen Stands Out on 'The X Factor,' Moves Onto Top 12

Ellona Santiago and her group, inTENsity, move onto the top 12 and will perform next Wednesday, Nov. 2, for viewer votes.

San Lorenzo teen  got the green light from their mentor Paula Abdul to advance to the Top 12 during Tuesday night's live show on "The X Factor."

Sporting a red blazer and silver platforms, the 15-year-old sophomore performed several solos during a medley of Cupid's "369" and Kenny Loggins' "Footloose," catching judge Simon Cowell's attention.

“You, in the red jacket, have got an amazing voice,” he said.

The group, and Abdul, got compliments across the board from the other judges.

“You’re like my little pumpkin patch of yummy pumpkins,” said Nicole Scherzinger.

"There is a gap in the market for a group like this," said L.A. Reid.

"From a record company perspective, I'd look at you and say, 'I've got the new young "Glee" in front of me,'" Cowell added.

Among the four group acts, the 10-person band was the third to be put through by Abdul.

Simon called them a "music miracle," after the group, which was originally 10 soloists who were elimintaed, was .

Prior to her live performance in Los Angeles, that the group doesn't want the competition to end.

Starting next week, viewers can help keep them in the running toward receiving a Sony recording contract and one of the largest prizes in television history: $5 million.

The "live show" round continues next Wednesday, Nov. 2, when the acts will be performing for viewer votes.
