San Lorenzo Creek's path to importance in our lives.

A 12 mile creek side bike & pedestrian trail would make San Lorenzo Creek useful again.

In 1770 Spanish explorer Fages camps on a "deep creek" calling it "Arroyo de San Lorenzo." Later the name was changed to San Lorenzo Creek. Wild flowers and Willow, Sycamore, and Oak trees lined the creek. People would picnic and fish along its banks.

In the mid 1950's that all ended with most of the creek being paved for flood control. The natural beauty and recreational use disappeared.

A proposed 12 mile creek side pedestrian and bicycle trail connecting the Hayward Hills to the San Lorenzo Bay Trail would make San Lorenzo Creek useful again. Providing residents with a safe route to bike ride or walk without the worry of being hit by one of thousands of cars on our narrow, crowded streets.
