Who Should be Inducted into the Alameda County Women's Hall of Fame?

Do you know a woman that should be nominated for Alameda County's 2014 Women's Hall of Fame?

Alameda County is now accepting nominations for the 2014 Women’s Hall of Fame. 

There are 12 categories for the Hall of Fame:

  • Business and Professions Women creating and promoting economic development opportunities in business
  • Community Service Women contributing to improving the overall quality of their community
  • Culture and Art Women enhancing and encouraging individual creativity in the performing, visual and media arts
  • Education Women promoting success and contributing to the progress and growth of education
  • Environment Women supporting and advocating the preservation of our environment
  • Health Women improving access to health care services and medical advancement
  • Justice Women reforming and expanding legal advocacy in the justice system
  • Non-Traditional Careers Women succeeding in and/or promoting the advancement of women in non-traditional careers
  • Philanthropy Women involved in efforts to increase the well-being of humankind by promoting and championing charitable aid
  • Science, Technology, Engineering Women pioneering the advancement of scientific research and technology
  • Sports and Athletics Women promoting and encouraging leadership in sports and athletics
  • Youth High school females in the 11th and 12th grades demonstrating leadership and making a difference in the community

The Women’s Hall of Fame is open to women of all ages.

The public can submit their nominations until Nov. 22, and the nominees will be announced in January.

The 21st annual luncheon and awards ceremony will be at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral, located at 4700 Lincoln Avenue in Oakland, on Saturday, March 29.

According to the Alameda County’s Women’s Hall of Fame site, the purpose of the Hall of Fame is to recognize outstanding women for their achievements and contributions to the overall well being of the county and its citizens.
