Lines of more than 30 people stretched among the Monday evening as folks waited patienty to try their foodie favorites.

Close to 330 people said they were going to the Off the Grid Hayward launch event listed on Facebook. However, based on the crowds of people that turned up, it appeared to be a lot more.

The event was the first of several that will be held in the Hayward lot on the corner of Mission Boulevard and C Street from 5 to 9 p.m. every Monday.

Folks were willing to wait as long as 20 minutes to try some of the tasty fare being dished out from

Ross Tirona of Hayward ordered the chicken tikka masala fried ravioli from Curry Up Now and said it was nothing short of amazing.

Steve Jacobs of Castro Valley said he was delighted to finally be able to try a dish from We Sushi — sweet potato fries topped with fishy flakes of deliciousness. However, he wasn't pleased with the long lines.

"It's really good, but I don't like the crowds," he said. "I will never come back."

Nancy Hernandez of Hayward didn't seem to mind as much. After receiving her Chicago-style hot dog from Street Dogs, she immediately stood in line for dessert — a classic cream puff from Pacific Puffs.

"They don't put any ketchup in here?! That's crazy," she said as she took her first bite of the hot dog. "It's good... I just miss the ketchup."
