A Short Play Festival: Check Out Our Shorts!
On Thursdays and Fridays, February 14, 15, 21 & 22, the annual short play festival Check Out Our Shorts! will be playing at the East Bay Arts High School at 7:00 PM in the Black Box Theater. Tickets will be $5 for adults and $3 for students.
This year, Check Out Our Shorts consists of four short plays directed by and featuring EBA students: Minutiae, by Barry Eitel is the tale of two simple organisms competing for a tiny patch of sand long, long ago. Walter Wykes’ Call of the Revolution follows a couple torn between the demands of everyday life, and the wish to be a part of something bigger. Walter Wykes also wrote While the Auto Waits, a short comedy of identity about who we are and who we aspire to be. A short play by Australian playwright Alex Broun completes this year’s selections. Mr. Broun adapts Edgar Allen Poe’s short story masterpiece for the stage in Masque of the Red Death. Many students have been involved with this production, not only as the actors, but also as directors, costumes, and technicians. We’re excited to showcase these talented students’ hard work.
