What Your Child Should Know When Entering Kindergarten
Parents always ask what their child should know when entering kindergarten. There is no clearly defined rules. Below are a few points that can be used for reference.
- Begin to hold a pencil correctly
- Attempt to tie his/her shoes
- Catch a large ball with both hands
- Recognize and name most uppercase and lowercase letters
- Produce the correct sound for 10-20 letters
- Recognize his/her name in print
- Retell simple stories in proper sequence (eg, The Three Little Pigs)
- Recognize and name numerals 1-10
