Today begins Purim, the Jewish Festival of Lots, a holiday we celebrate by dressing up in costumes and rattling really irritating noisemakers while reading the Book of Esther aloud, scarfing down three-cornered cookies called hamentashen and partying until we ad lo yada—can't distinguish the hero of the story from the villain.
It's also the day Tal (my fiance) and I met for the first time, so as you might imagine it's one of our favorite holidays. In that spirit, I'm posting this picture of me in a very silly costume. Can you guess where in San Lorenzo I am?
Guess right and I'll bring you some of my homemade hamentashen. (Poppyseed, natch—is there another kind?) And some Patch swag, of course.
