This week, we explore Valentine's Day treats that won't break the bank. From live orchids to pan dulce, San Lorenzo offers treats to satisfy every budget and taste. Let's get to it: 

  1. is the big gimmie on our list. Most readers are probably already fans of their luscious cupcakes and fresh cookies. For the uninitiated, Gala's has a wide selection of Valentine's treats, from chocolate-dipped strawberries to custom-made cupcakes. A heart-shaped cookie on a stick will set you back about $5, but be prepared to spend up to $30 for one of their elaborate cookie bouquets. 
  2. Those who've never ventured past the train tracks on Grant Avenue don't know what they're missing. Tucked away in San Lorenzo's industrial quarter savvy shoppers will find 's factory outlet store at 2380 Grant Ave. The manufacturer is offering a special discount on all its Valentine's treats. Boxes like the ones pictured start at just $2. 
  3. For a new twist on a classic, try Necco Sweethearts en Español. A box will set you back about a quarter at . 15840 Hesperian Blvd.
  4. Got a Necco budget and a Gala appetite? Try the superlative pink pan dulce at Hispanic Supermarket, 18400 Hesperian Blvd. Three for $1.
  5. Finally, if sweets aren't your thing, Pacific Ranch Supermarket, 15833 Channel St., offers an array of live orchids. Nothing says commitment like a plant. $20-$30 for most.
