Nearly 5,000 Left Without Power in San Leandro, Castro Valley, Cherryland

A downed wire on 150th Avenue seemed to be the cause.

Power went out in several parts of the East Bay Sunday evening in an outage affecting more than 4,000 people, according to Pacific Gas and Electric.

The outage, which began at 8:04 p.m., initially affected 4,767 customers in east San Leandro, northeast San Lorenzo and parts of Castro Valley according to PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi.

Power was restored for 4,222 customers at 9:09 p.m. He said remaining customers should get their power back by 6 a.m. Monday morning.

The outage appeared to have been caused by a downed wire on 150th Avenue east of Foothill Boulevard said Guidi.

Another outage in Richmond began around 1:58 p.m. and affected around 300 customers. Their power should be restored around midnight on Sunday, Guidi said.
