Here Comes The Story of the Hurricane

The mid-Atlantic coast was prepared for the worst, and Irene is not that, according to local Patches.

Patch is a good way to monitor a weather event that encompasses a wide area such as Hurricane Irene.

 Fayetteville and Fort Bragg residents prepared for the worst and were pleasantly surprised Saturday morning that Hurricane Irene bypassed the immediate region. There were downed tree limbs and a small power outage.

In Maryland, there were mandatory evacuations in the Ocean City area. has video of sharp winds and rain Saturday morning and a diner manager who says he will remain open 24 hours as long as he has his power.

And my mother, Joan Howland, in Skaneateles, N.Y., reported Saturday afternoon no rain yet, but the sky was a foreboding gray.
