Public Works Alert: Flooding, Mudslides, Hail in Castro Valley Today

Stay indoors today if you can. The rain should begin tapering off tomorrow through Sunday.

Flooding and minor mudslides have occurred in several locations along Norris Canyon Road and Crow Canyon Road, north of Greenridge Road, in Castro Valley, the Alameda County Public Works Agency said in an alert late today.

The agency "encourages motorists to reduce speeds and take appropriate precautions when driving on these roadways," the alert says.

Thunderstorms were likely to produce small hail today and tonight in Castro Valley, the National Weather Service predicted earlier today.
