Where/When: San Leandro Library; Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Enjoy a special afternoon with family as you partake in a dim sum luncheon and watch live models wear the latest designs from local Asian fashion boutiques.

Where/When: Epiphany Lutheran Church in San Leandro; Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Why Go: Get information on preschools around the area, so you choose the right school for your children.

Where/When: Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center; Sunday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Assist the staff during the daily feeding of the leopard shark tank and learn about the inhabitants of the tank. This event is fun and educational for all ages.

FREE PANCAKE DAY

Where/When: International House of Pancakes (IHOP); Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Why Go: It's free pancakes! Take your whole family to enjoy a hearty short stack before they start their day.

Pricing: Free, but consider leaving a donation for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and other designated charities.

2ND ANNUAL BLACK HISTORY BOWL

Where/When: Frick Middle School in Oakland; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Watch student teams in elementary, middle and high school divisions test their knowledge of Black History.
