Here's storytime in pajamas, books for sale, and an outdoor market — pick and choose from this week's array of events.

We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children.

Each Wednesday, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events of the coming week.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the greatest things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Look for the kids’ planner each Wednesday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips—just add them to the comment box. Even if you disagree with our picks, let us know. We want to hear from you!

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

Where/When: San Lorenzo Library; Monday, 7- 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: Families and their preschoolers can listen to stories and songs before bedtime. Plus, kids can wear pajamas for fun! 

Pricing: Free.

Where/When: San Lorenzo Library; Wednesday, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

Why Go: Support Friends of the Library, a non-profit organization that raises funds to support the San Lorenzo Library.

Pricing: Book prices vary.

Where/When: San Lorenzo High School's Health Clinic; Wednesday, 10 a.m.-noon.

Why Go: The clinic is open to the general public on the second Wednesday of the month for children ages 4 to 18.

Pricing: Free.

Where/When: Ninth Street between Broadway and Clay in Oakland; Friday, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

Why Go: Teach your family what it means to support local farmers. Taste some samples of seasonal fruits and veggies, and let your kids pick out their favorites to bring home for a snack later

Pricing: Free to browse, but hard to resist buying the fresh produce.

LUNAR NEW YEAR FESTIVAL

Where/When: The Oakland Asian Cultural Center; Saturday, noon-4 p.m.

Why Go: Activities will include cultural art projects for families and performances by OACC teachers/artists and their students.
