LAKE CHABOT REGIONAL PARK

Find out what's happening in Castro Valleywith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Where/When: 17600 Lake Chabot Rd., Castro Valley; open daily between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Why Go: Have a barbecue or picnic with friends and family by the lake this Memorial Day weekend. The park also offers fishing, boating, or hiking/biking trails around the lake.

DIXIE SWIM CLUB

Where/When: Chanticleers Theatre in Castro Valley; Friday at 8 p.m.

Why Go: It's bargain night at the theater, so check out this southern-fried comedy about lifelong friendship for a discounted price.

HISTORY TOUR OF OAKLAND

Where/When: First Presbyterian Church in Oakland; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Why Go: Visit historic places of worship and learn about their architecture and influence on the development of Oakland. Highlighted buildings include First Presbyterian, First Congregational, First Christian churches and Temple Sinai.

Pricing: Free

HISTORIC BAL THEATRE

Where/When: The Historic Bal Theatre in San Leandro; Saturday at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Why Go: The theatre will be showing the Indiana Jones movie Raiders of The Lost Ark.

Pricing: $10

HAYWARD MUNICIPAL BAND

Where/When: Lone Tree Cemetery,  24591 Fairview Ave., Hayward; Monday at 10:30 a.m.

Why Go: The Hayward Municipal Band will perform on Memorial Day in a special ceremony that will include patriotic and inspirational tributes to our fallen heroes. Don't miss this musical tribute to all current and former members of the Armed Services.
