CINCO DE MAYO CELEBRATION

Find out what's happening in Castro Valleywith free, real-time updates from Patch.

  • Where/When: Civic Center Plaza, City Hall; Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Why Go: The fiesta will feature Mexican dances performed by the Ballet Folklorico Mexicano de Carlos Moreno, as well as children's activities and refreshments.
  • Pricing: Free

  • Where/When: California Conservatory Theatre in San Leandro; Thursday at 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m.
  • Why Go: Enjoy all the Jerome Kern standards, including The Way You Look Tonight, Old Man River, Make Believe, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, Pick Yourself Up, A Fine Romance, I’m Old Fashioned, The Song Is You, I Won’t Dance and All The Things You Are.

CINCO DE MAYO LATIN COMEDY EXPLOSION

  • Where/When: Bal Theatre; Friday at 7:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: Check out funny man Dennis Gaxiola, who has gained notoriety from his appearances with Jamie Foxx on Comedy Central, The Latino Kings of Comedy Tour with Paul Rodriguez, BET's Comic View and more. Also featuring Big Al Gonzales, Rodger Lizaola, Fernando Soltero and Justin Harrison.
  • Pricing: $25-$50

CLASSIC & CUSTOM CAR AND MOTORCYCLE SHOW

  • Where/When: 15701 Lorenzo Ave., San Lorenzo; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: Hundreds of classics, customs, vintage, muscle cars, tricked-out trucks, low riders, rat rods, motorcycles, and more. Not enough? How about a pancake breakfast, live music, raffles and a BBQ?
  • Pricing: $5

  • Where/When: Meek Mansion in Hayward; Saturday at 10 a.m.
  • Why Go: In honor of Preservation Month, learn about different architectural styles and details of the Victorian and other eras, Victorian furnishings and décor.
  • Pricing: $5 for adults, $3 for seniors/students, free for Historical Society members 

  • When/Where: Ashland Community Center, 1530 167th Ave
  • Why go:  The event will include a health resource fair, free food for the community, raffles, traditional Mexican entertainment and a Youth Expo where kids can express their talents through the arts in support of creating healthy communities.
  • Pricing: Free
