Gas Prices Drop for Third Week in a Row

In the East Bay, the average price is now $3.98 for a gallon of unleaded regular, five cents less than a week ago and 30 cents cheaper than a month ago.

A vast number of service stations in the East Bay are now selling a gallon of regular unleaded for $3.99 or less.

The price of gas dropped a few more pennies in the past week, marking the third week in a row the cost of gasoline has declined.

Nationwide, the average price for regular unleaded is $3.77 a gallon, two cents less than a week ago and 21 cents cheaper than a month ago, according to a California State Automobile Association website.

In California, a gallon of unleaded regular sells on average for $3.99, five cents lower than a week ago and 28 cents cheaper than a month ago.
