Families who create together, stay together. So Patch found some local spots for you to get creative with some arts and crafts either by yourself or with a friend, family member or child. 

Get crafty this week with special deals and everyday low prices on art supplies and classes for activities like scrapbooking, beading, ceramics and more.

Whether you're 9 or 90 years old, there is a project for every age in Castro Valley. Not only can you take classes and learn something new, but you can also pick up supplies at discounted prices (while sales last).

Check below for some craft ideas that won't cost you a pretty penny. Don’t forget to print the attached coupons when required.

1.

Deal: Spend some time crafting as a family and learn how to build scrapbook pages by attending a Basic Scrapbooking class for only $20. Materials to create the page will be provided. 

The Fine Print: Must bring several photos from a single event and any other items you would like to use for your contemporary scrapbook page. Class includes instruction.

Suggestion: Jazzy Crafts suggests taking this class for some mommy and me time. Be sure to sign up early as there is limited seating.

Good through: Class is scheduled for March 8 at 6 p.m.

2. JO-ANN FABRIC AND CRAFT STORES

Deal: Watch a free demo at Jo-Ann’s on how to use both a Circuit and a Gypsy for papercrafting.

The Fine Print: Demonstration is scheduled for one day only.

Suggestion: Stock up on papercrafting supplies while they are 40 percent off. If you sign up to be a Jo-Ann VIP either in-store or online, you can save 10 percent off of every purchase.

Good through: Demo is Saturday, Feb. 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Papercrafting sale ends on Saturday, Feb. 26.

Deal: Take a beading class at Glorious Beads for $25 to $35 per person. Classes offered this week include Beginning Earrings, X’s and O’s Crystal Bracelet, Fancy Cuff (Wire Bracelet), Spiral Rope or Indian Style Dangle Earrings.

The Fine Print: Classes are offered on Wednesday, Feb. 23, Friday, Feb. 25 and Saturday, Feb. 26. Check the schedule for dates, times and prices for specific classes.

Suggestion: Stock up on red beads while you’re in because they are 20 percent off during the month of February.

Good through: Class dates and times can be found on the website. Red bead sale ends Monday, Feb. 28.

Deal: Attend Aran’s late nights on the second Friday and last Saturday of every month. Fees are waived during this time, and all you pay for is the price of the ceramic or glass art project.

The Fine Print: Must be 18+ years old to participate.

Suggestion: Participate in karaoke while you're there, and feel free to bring a beverage or snack with you.

Good through: Ongoing.

Deal: Adela’s Yarns is currently selling Schaefer Patterns for $5.50 per pattern.

The Fine Print: Order patterns over phone or by mail.

Suggestion: Call ahead or stop by to sign up for knitting and crochet class for beginners to advanced students.

Another problem: When notified of a reply to a comment I could click the link in the email to go toRead More the article. That was not possible this time. So because a small minority zooms there computer the layout should be as it is? I don't think so. All that white space means that an article that could be read with just one or two clicks to scroll through is now going to take more scrolling to view. One thing that seems to be missing in today's world are web designers who (1) change the layout just because and (2) web designers who have neglected to consider the audience. The more I look at this layout the less I like it. The font needs to be darker than it is. the blue (like in "announcements") needs to be bolder. Overall, on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 best), I rank the new "improved" design a 3.
