Castro Valley Entrepreneur's Book Goes to Press Tomorrow: Latina Mentor Points the Way to Career as 'Green' Economy Innovator

Patch reader Graciela Tiscareño-Sato wrote her book to help high school and college students as well as professionals in transition.

Honored many times over, Graciela Tiscareño-Sato of Castro Valley (you can call her Grace) has a new reason to celebrate.

The book she wrote in the jewel-toned décor of a Castro Valley café named for a 13th century mystic-poet – on Heyer Avenue – goes to press tomorrow.

Latinnovating: Green American Jobs and the Latinos is available for pre-order at http://latinnovating.com/. If you order before March 31, you’ll get a 20 percent discount off the $25 cover price. The book will make its official debut on May 14 at a Stanford University book signing.

Latinnovating was written for high school and college students looking for career paths as “green” economy entrepreneurs. Professionals in transition will also find helpful guidance.

“I have seen from the air and from the ground more of this Earth than most people ever will see. I have tremendous and deep appreciation for our planet because I understand the smallness of it,” the former military officer and aviator said in a statement explaining her inspiration for the book.

Grace was honored by LATINA Style Magazine as the San Francisco Bay Area “Entrepreneur of the Year” in May. She is a key organizer of the Silicon Valley Latino Leadership Summit with San Jose-based author friend Frank Carbajal.

Her book tells the stories of Latino entrepreneurs working in 10 economic sectors including industrial lighting systems, commercial printing, packaging, communications, green building techniques and venture capital.
